The former Olympian, and current WBO and IBF super-featherweight world champion, from Colorado Springs boasts one of the most impressive resumes in professional boxing today. 17 fights, 17 wins, with 5 of those wins coming by way of knockout!
What Mikaela has achieved so far has been nothing short of special, but it doesn't stop there! She looks to add two more belts to her collection, when she faces WBC and IBO champion, Alycia Baumgardner, on September 10th. The fight is the co-main event to Claressa Shields v Savannah Marshall, which tops the bill of a historic, first all-female card to be shown by a major broadcaster.
Final preparations for such a fight are integral and we are proud to say Mikaela and George Ruiz have chosen Bermondsey Boxing Club to host their efforts whilst they are here.
"There was a whole decade where women's boxing wasn't even a thing and we are back for good, I know that."
We wish Mikaela nothing but the best in her quest for greatness this Saturday. She has been a pleasure to have around the gym and we are certain she is ready.
